eBay fee FAQ

Does eBay charge fees on shipping and sales tax?

Yes — the final value fee is calculated on the total amount of the sale, which includes the shipping the buyer pays and the sales tax, even though eBay remits the tax and you never see it. That's why a "13.6% fee" eats more than 13.6% of your item price. If you offer free domestic shipping as the cheapest option, shipping isn't fee'd.

What's the per-order fee boundary?

$0.30 for orders with a total of $10.00 or less, $0.40 above $10.00. Around the boundary a slightly higher list price can net you less — the reverse mode of this calculator handles that and will show both candidate prices when they exist.

How does the sneaker rule work?

Athletic shoes sold at $150 or more: flat 8% and no per-order fee. At $149.99 you're back on 13.6% + $0.40. This calculator switches automatically based on your price.

Do eBay Store subscribers pay less?

In some categories, yes. This calculator uses standard non-Store rates; with a Store your final value fee may be somewhat lower. Check eBay's Store selling fees page for your tier.
